NIGEL RUNDSTROM, Vice President, Multimedia, Nokia

philippe
With more than 20 years experience in the mobile communications industry, Nigel Rundston currently serves as Vice President, Multimedia for Nokia.  Mr. Rundstrom moved to the U.S. in 2004 and has been responsible for overseeing the business activities for Nokia’s Multimedia Business Group in North America.  This includes spearheading new business initiatives for the Imaging, Games, Music and Rich Media.

Mr. Rundstrom is a native of Britain. He joined Nokia in 1991 and has held management positions throughout the Asia Pacific Region. He was Vice President & General Manager of Nokia’s mobile phone business in Japan where he launched Nokia’s first I-mode product in the spring of 2000.  He was instrumental helping Nokia achieve outright market leadership in Asia.

The videos here were made in May 2007,  when Nigel Rundstrom was a guest in Kit Laybourne’s course, The Producer’s Craft. The tapes were shot and divided into short segments by Karl Mendonca. We appreciate Mr. Rundstrom’s courtesy in providing access to his observations about the global marketplace. It turns out his remarks were particularly prescient vis-à-vis the ground shift triggered by the release of Apple’s iPhone just a few weeks after these remarks were recorded.
